No, not at all. They are bonded and removed like an orthodontic bracket. The bonding process does not include any damage to, or removal of your tooth enamel.
Dentists use only professional dental adhesives, and you can even remove them later without any damage to your teeth. Just like an orthodontic bracket is bonded onto your teeth.
Professionally bonded iZi’s will stay on your tooth for years, but like any tooth restoration, it is possible to dislodge. Therefore, it is not possible for the dentist to guarantee the bonding of the jewel.
iZi Crystals are manufactured from high quality crystals and are softer than our cubic zirconia Sparkles. Their facets can wear down over time and the crystal can therefore lose its sparkle or lustre.
Sparkles are manufactured from cubic zirconia and are hard and long lasting. They will keep their sparkle and lustre for many years. Cubic zirconia is called the ‘synthetic diamond’
No, there is no drilling or prepping of tooth enamel in the process to bond an iZi. Therefore, you will experience no pain or damage to your tooth.
The easiest way is to purchase your chosen jewel from our website, then contact your closest participating dentist to make an appointment for your jewel to be bonded.
For the Laterals, Centrals, L’s, measure the width of your tooth and deduct 1mm. The reason the jewel does not extend to the edge of your tooth is to enable proper bonding to prevent dislodging.
For Slits, measure the length of your tooth and deduct 1mm for proper bonding.
Do not fear. Most dentists have or can bond tooth jewellery. Contact your nearest dentist to find out if you can fit your iZi through them. Alternatively, you can contact us so we can refer you to a dentist in your area.
